I couldn’t agree more with Oscar Wilde; life is definitely too short to be unhappy with oneself. Here’s a little tip that I found while surfing the web that might just help with the beginning of one’s very own “lifelong romance”.
Post positive statements up some places where you will see them each and every day. “I am beautiful.” or “I have the courage to love.” Write notes that remind you of what you love most about yourself. Read them out loud, every day, at least once, ideally at least ten times each time you notice one of them. Sticky notes are fabulous for such affirmations and goals.
“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
~ Oscar Wilde
Life is far too short to be in contention with yourself. Sure, we all have things we dislike — Knobbly knees, blemished skin, selfishness, procrastination… whether malleable or permanent, we all have elements within ourselves that we do not like. However, to truly love another person, you have to love all of them, including their flaws. Therefore, to love oneself, one must love all of oneself, even the parts one does not like.
Only then can anyone really get anything done!
